Doncaster Council’s Neighbourhood Hit Squad is launching in Bentley this week with a community event at Fern Avenue (Thursday 4 August 1pm-6pm).
The project is run by the council’s Private Sector Housing team and brings together a variety of agencies including NHS Doncaster, the police and fire service as well as various other council departments to look at a range of issues such as complaints, empty properties, disrepair, fly-tipping and community safety. The hit squad will be in the Bentley Rise North area for nine months to improve the local environment and housing conditions for residents. The launch event on Thursday will feature stalls from various agencies promoting community events as well as a fire service road side rescue demonstration featuring a vehicle being cut-up. The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Patricia Schofield, said: “The highly successful Neighbourhood Hit Squad project is part of a national best practice toolkit for other local authorities to follow. “We will be looking at a wide range of issues within the community and I would encourage residents to attend the launch event. This is your chance to tell us how we can make a difference.” Bentley Ward Member Marilyn Green, said: “This is good news for local people, I hope that everyone will work with the hit squad team to help improve the area.” |
